Moving, in general, is a major transition, let alone moving into an entirely new community!
So, let's talk about 3 things you should look for to make sure that neighborhood is the right one for you!
1. Drive around the neighborhood at night after everyone gets off of work.
Looking at homes during the day is one thing, but taking a drive through the neighborhood after everyone gets off work can show you an entirely different side to that community.
Is there loud music playing late at night? Are there so many cars parked on the street that it would make it hard to have guests over? Think about what's important to you & if this community lines up with your values!
2. Look into the local schools.
If you've got school-aged children, you're likely doing this anyway. However, here are some things you might want to check out if you haven't already.
Are the schools within walking distance? How is the district rated? Again, think about what's important to you!
3. See how close it is to freeways & figure out your new commute time.
We spend so much of our time at work that we don't really want to spend more time driving back and forth TO work (that time could be better spent in other ways, am I right?)
So, take a drive around the time you'd be leaving for work, see where the closest freeways are, & time that drive. If that time works for you - great! If not, see if there are other ways you could make it work or look for alternatives.
Which idea are you going to try?
