How to Find the Right Agent

I wanted to write a post about the importance of working with the right agent when you are looking to buy or sell your home. This is going to be one of the largest and most important transactions that you can make. Having the right agent with you can make the difference between having a stress-filled frustrating, negative experience or a positive, well-coordinated exciting one. Knowing what I expected from a real estate agent motivated me to become one myself so that I could provide my clients with the helpful, honest service that they deserve.

When working with an agent, there are important essential characteristics that they should have, confidence, knowledge of the market, a good reputations, etc. Just as important in my opinion is how responsive they are to your inquiries, how you get along with them, and whether you feel like they are looking out for your best interest the whole way. Feeling comfortable with the guidance that they provide and knowing that they have a solid thought-out strategy for your individual situation is essential.

Finding the right agent is a very important first step. If you know and trust someone to look out for you then you are a step ahead. If you don't, then I would recommend meeting with at least three agents from the area where you are looking. Ask important questions about all of your concerns and make sure that you get answers that make sense to you. If you're not familiar with the process, have them walk you through it so that you know what to expect. Make sure that that the agent is going to be there when you call, and will negotiate like a true professional to get you the best deal possible. Most importantly, trust your gut feeling. If you feel like your agent isn't living up to your standards then politely ask that you can be released from the contract.
