Meet Joe King

Joseph King's  passion is supporting people as they make the most important decisions in their life. In his first year in real estate, he supported over 30 real estate transactions tallying over $10,000,000 in sales but his focus remained on the people involved. Each of those transactions represent individuals and families who have upgraded, downsized, relocated, or otherwise transitioned a home sale or home purchase with Joe’s support. Joe became a Realtor after strong recommendation from Cooper Realty’s Principal Broker and long-time friend, Ernest Cooper.

Joe was born in rural east Multnomah County on his family’s small 1 acre farm with 25 fruit trees, 5 vegetable gardens, a machine shop, an old barn where his aunt raised a cow named “Bolivar”. His grandma who lived next door made wine from the grapevines behind the house. Influenced by land use laws and changing family values, the old farm was sold and became a subdivision which was named Willard Acres, after grandma and grandpa of course.

Joe’s career has included managing a $5 million law-firm in Lake Oswego, a 450 meal per day meals-on-wheels program, and a historic resource preservation organization. He earned his MBA in 2006 and two years later earned certification as a life coach in Boulder Colorado. After wrangling attorneys, Joe decided to open his own coaching business which helped individuals start their own businesses, land life-changing career opportunities, and figure out ways to achieve the elusive work-life balance.

Joe became a runner a few years ago and has run numerous marathons and other races including his first ultra-marathon from Grand Junction, Colorado to Moab, Utah, in June 2012. He recently fulfilled a lifelong passion and took a stab at stand-up comedy and enjoyed over 100 people laughing at him. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his partner, Len, a graphic designer.
